Round Norfolk Challenge

Due to very inclement weather conditions on Sunday morning we were really down on entrants, we had fourteen riders and two passengers. The youngest rider was James Green at sixteen on his Fizzy which did the one hundred and eighty five mile route with no problems, well done to him, probably a first for a young rider. We also had Martin Adams and Jane riding again from Holmfirth in Yorkshire.  Jackie and myself did the backup with no problems apart from Arthur's Triumph about five miles from the end when the ammeter fell apart but we sorted it out on the road side.

After a very wet start the roads dried out after Gt Yarmouth and stayed that way until Walcott then it rained on and off for the rest of the day but did dry out towards the end. The coffee stop was supplied free of charge thanks to Nic at the Kings Arms in Blakeney. We had a very good lunch stop at the Feathers in Dersingham. As we left the lunch stop we ran over a black Labrador dog which I think it had been running about on the road all morning apparently. It shot off into a garden so it seemed ok and we carried on after speaking to the owner. I think several bikes said they had near misses with it as well.

The afternoon route was a revised one thanks to Steve and Debbie which took the riders through Brandon, Elveden and Knettishall Heath, South Lopham to Diss which everybody said they really liked.

Both the start and finish were at the George and Dragon at Thurton who supplied coffee and refreshments.

Thanks to Debbie for doing the sign on and paper work.

Lets hope for better weather next time!
