Suffolk 100 Pre 31 Run

The Suffolk 100 attracted a great turnout of pre 31 machines, not only from our section but also from Ipswich, Cambridge and Kings Lynn.  There were 29 riders and two passengers signed on on the day which started at the 100th Bomb Group Museum at Thorpe Abbots.  The 40 mile morning route took the bikes through Hoxne, Eye, Gislingham, Rickinghall, Kenninghall and on to Old Buckenham where the lunchtime stop was at Jimmy’s Cafe at Old Buckingham Airfield.

Only one bike at this stage on the backup trailer with a partial seizure. Poor old Mickey was at the lunch stop struggling to fix a puncture on a beaded edge rim helped by Richard and advised by many - not for the faint hearted!

With everyone watered and fed it was off on a 25 mile route back to Thorpe Abbotts passing through Tibenham, Hardwick, Pulham St Mary and Dickleburgh.

Roy Tubby was presented with the Flat Tanker shield awarded for the Most Desirable Bike a 1924 Nut V-Twin.

Thanks go to 100th Bomb Group Museum for hosting the event for its second year, Val and Dave for backup (much needed) and Richard who persevered with Mickey to try and fix his tyre but gave up and took him home in his van sacrificing his own run back to Thorpe Abbotts, a true biking buddy.
