Carbrooke Run

We were hoping for a dry day after last years soaking but as the forecast changed hourly over the previous few days it looked uncertain. We had to take shelter from heavy rain for a few minutes before the start, after which, we had a dry day.

The newly laid gravel drive challenged some of the riders as they arrived, Derek looked as though he was going into the neighbours fence but skilfully managed to avoid a mishap.

The ride took a new route as far as Oxburgh Hall and then continued past Marham to Castle Acre for lunch at The Ostrich Pub. The afternoon route took us past Gressenhall Workhouse, near to Honingham and Coston then onto Shipdham and back to High Barn for cake and tea.

Deborah's Victoria Sponge soon disappeared as too did most of Steve's Guinness Cake

An interesting point of local history came to light as Dudley mentioned we passed the site of Hardingham watermill which was burned down as part of the final scene of a movie made in 1966. More details about it can be found here: Watermills/hardingham

Thanks to everyone who came and supported the ride.
